Fun Ways to Explore Toronto in the Winter

Winter can be fun if you get out and explore your city!

Toronto has countless ways to entertain and amuse, and Compten Management is here to show you where you'll find the most fun throughout the city.

Skating is a great winter pastime, and in Toronto, there are several fun outdoor skating rinks. Colonel Samuel Smith Park has a large figure 8 rink with free daily admission and free parking on weekends. Our Lake Promenade residents can walk to the rink in 20 minutes or drive there in less than 10. For a unique experience, The Shops at Don Mills opened their skating oval on January 14th. The rink will be open during mall hours and is free, so you can enjoy both pastimes in one place! Residents of our Donway Properties live across the street and can easily walk to the rink (and the shops)!

Sometimes January can feel dark and gloomy. If you want to add more light to your winter, head to the Toronto Light Festival from January 18th to March 3rd in the Distillery Historic District. Showcasing local artists, this festival will light up the night while stretching across 13 acres and 44 buildings. Look forward to live performances, food trucks, and an amazing way to experience Toronto in the dead of winter! The Light Festival is closest to our Yorkville community, but it's worth the drive to experience this amazing light display.

Warm up your taste buds at Winterlicious! This year there will be nearly 200 restaurants participating and three price options for both lunch and dinner three-course prix fixe menus. Reservations have begun, so book now to get a table at the restaurant of your choice. Seating begins January 25th and runs until February 7th.

Snowshoeing is a great winter sport that is easy to do no matter your age or skill level! If you want to explore Toronto this winter, head out to Sunnybrook Park and snowshoe through the nature trails that connect the six nearby parks together! Parking is available off Leslie Street or Veterans Hill Trail, just a few minutes from our Cartac Community and our Redpath, Holly, and Dunfield Towers.
